PART ONE:

One person should record all the data available about human interactions including demographics, activities, things or systems interacted with.
- Majority of the crowd tend to follow the outlined crossing whereas some just walked across.
- As humans, they are able to naturally move and walk without hitting or clashing with anyone. Unconsciously all have the understanding of walking without hitting anyone, if so, both pedestrians will get hurt.
- System - lighting, use of clear opposing colours (red and green), symbol, movement, attention (where everyone looks at the lights to move - interestingly some don’t look directly at the lights but are aware of the movement of people around them and follow it)
- Activities - walking, riding a bike, cars on the road

One person should record all the things they expect to feel, hear, and smell, as well as any other environmental factors.
Feel
Breeze from cars/ wind
Sunlight while waiting
People bumping into you/ brushing past you
Hear

Wind/ trees rustling
Stomping/armching/running of feet crossing
Cars driving and honking
Bicycles ringing their bells traffic lights
Chatter yelling
Smell
Fumes from cars (petrol)
Coffee from Starbucks/ restaurants
Perfumes from surrounding/ passing people

Patterns - What happened more than once? What did people typically do? What were the patterns of behaviour you saw?
- Fast walking of the same pattern
- Intersecting of people within the different streets
Times – How often, and for how long did people do things?
- 90 seconds per crossing
Numbers – How many objects? How many people? What demographics? How many bags did they have? How many footpaths? How many rubbish bins?
- Objects (streetlights/posts/cameras): 20ish
- People: Average 2500 people every 3.3 minutes = approx. 830 people in one time crossing light
- Demographics: Large variety of ages, professions ect.
- Bags: Between 1 to 3
- Footpaths: 5 pedestrian paths
- Rubbish bins: 0
Phenomena – Did anything unusual happen?
- Not warning the pedestrians when the light transitioned from green to red
Problems- Did you notice any issues with the use of the area?
- Intersection of people from one street to another
- Nobody was following the pedestrian paths

One person should draw a map of the situation and note the placement of objects and spaces, as well as people and their movements.
PART 2: HOME

One person should record all the data available about human interactions including demographics, activities, things or systems interacted with. (If you are home alone, record your own process using the space or what you recall from a busier time) Systems
- Gas system
- Heating system
- Boiling system
- Storage system
- Freezing system
- Preserving food system
- Cutting system
- Digestion system
- Wastage system
- Recycling system
- Laundry system
Patterns - What happened more than once? What did people typically do? What were the patterns of behaviour you saw?
- People usually cook, chop food, boil, fry, microwave, eat
- In addition, there is conversation and interaction that happens between and throughout the cooking process and meal time
Times – How often, and for how long did people do things?
Usually cook for 20mins-40mins per meal
Eat for 20mins but when eating with another family member, the interaction and conversation extends the time upto approx 1hr
Fridge is opened for about 10-30 seconds every time
Microwave goes for about 20-90 seconds every use
Electric kettle takes about 1-2min to boil
Oven is used for about 30min-1hr every use
Numbers – How many objects? How many people? What demographics?
There are about at least 3 different sizes of pots and pans
Number of people varies depending on the number of people from the household, 1-6 or more
Usually one or more rubbish bins including recycling bins
The number of cutleries depend on the number of people but usually a set of forks, knives, spoons or even chopsticks
At least one or more knives, kitchen scissors, cutting board

One person should record all the things they feel, hear, and smell, as well as any other environmental factors.
Feel
Hunger
Food - texture, consistency
Stress
Exhaustion
Love + Grateful for a meal made by a family member
Hear

Boiling of water, etc
Sizzling of food
Water in sink
Dishwasher

Chopping of ingredients
Whisking / Stirring
Range/Exhaust hood or Oven

Food / aromas
Spices / seasonings
Clean dishes
Garbage bin
